Rottweiler History
The origin of the Rottweiler breed is based on the Mastiff type Molossus breed. It is thought that their ancestors were Roman shepherd dogs that accompanied Roman troops, herded cattle and protected the army. Roman armies took these dogs with them during their conquests and especially made them serve as cattle herders in Germany.
